About Dr Maheshwari

Dr Rajesh Maheshwari is a neonatal paediatrician who completed his basic paediatric training from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi (India). He has subsequently completed advanced training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics and Child Health division) in 2013. Following this, he has completed his Masters in Philosophy (MPhil) qualification with the University of Sydney and his thesis work was about neonatal airway access (endotracheal intubation) and how to make it safer for babies.

He is working as a full-time staff specialist in neonatology at the busy neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Westmead Hospital. This work includes looking after critically sick newborn infants in the NICU and following their growth and development during infancy as outpatients.

His research focus is on finding ways to improve neonatal growth and development. His current research projects include study of neonatal thermoregulation, neonatal near infra-red spectroscopy and its link to development in preterm infants and a retrospective study of bone health in preterm infants.
