About Ms Engel

Veronica Engel is a registered psychologist and full member of the Australian Psychological Society, who has experience working with children, adolescents, their families and adult patients.

Through the application of the biopsychosocial model, Veronica works with her patients to understand their unique perspectives, their emotional reactions and how they behave. Veronica then implements evidence-based strategies to help her clients improve their thinking patterns, feel better and master their life challenges with greater calm and control. Having worked in Japan, Australia, Chile and Austria as well as in the non for profit and private sectors (UNSW, SAN, Oclinic, and The Gut Centre) Veronica enjoys working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Veronica predominantly uses a combination of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solutions Focused Therapy (SFT) with her patients, dependant on their presentation.

Veronica is an active researcher in the field of psychology, gut-brain conditions, & the role of psychology in obesity. She has presented to the Department of Gastroenterology at the Royal North Shore Hospital on Gut Disorders, at the Sydney Adventist Hospital for Bariatric Procedures regarding the Effect of Psychology on Eating & has been invited to speak at Paediatric Gastroenterology Seminars regarding the use of psychological strategies in the treatment of Gut-Brain conditions. Veronica is fluent in English and Spanish and has won the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Post Graduate Academic Studies.

Veronica loves health, the outdoors, yoga, skiing and horse riding.
