About Dr Khan

Dr Rabia Khan is a highly respected paediatric gastroenterologist with more than 20 years of experience caring for infants, children and adolescents with complex gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, nutritional and feeding disorders. She is recognised for her broad clinical expertise, international training, commitment to evidence-based medicine, and passion for medical education and research.

Dr Khan completed her paediatric residency training in Melbourne, Australia, followed by advanced training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Gastroenterology at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney, and through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). She went on to complete advanced fellowship training in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, including specialised training in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and the University of Toronto, Canada, before being appointed Staff Specialist Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Ottawa.

Dr Khan has particular expertise in inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as eosinophilic oesophagitis, coeliac disease and disorders of gut–brain interaction (DGBI). She is committed to providing comprehensive, family-centred care with an individualised management plan for every child.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Khan has developed a strong academic and research portfolio as a clinical epidemiologist, and is equally passionate about medical education — having taught and supervised medical students, paediatric trainees and postgraduate learners across Australia and Canada, including as an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa.

Outside medicine, Dr Khan enjoys spending quality time with her family and children, travelling and discovering new cultures and places.
