About Dr Velayutham

Dr. Velayutham is a paediatric endocrinologist who specialises in endocrine disorders and diabetes in children and adolescents. She previously worked as a staff specialist at Campbelltown Hospital and is currently a staff specialist at The Children’s Hospital Westmead.

She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Sydney on “New Insights into the Pathophysiology of Diabetes Complications in Adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes.” Her thesis won the Peter Bancroft Prize. She has published her original research in peer-reviewed journals. She is interested in clinical research and teaching and has expertise in managing growth disorders, puberty, adrenal, pituitary, thyroid function, and bone health. With her many years of experience, Dr. Velayutham has published numerous articles in some of the top journals and provides exceptional care for each of her patients.

Dr. Velayutham completed her MBBS in India and began her general paediatric training in the United Kingdom. She then moved to Australia and, after completing her paediatric training at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane (now merged with Queensland Children’s Hospital), undertook her subspecialty training in paediatric endocrinology at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
